Latest company news about What is aramid honeycomb core?

Aramid Honeycomb Core is a high-performance structural material composed of aromatic polyamide (aramid) fibers arranged in a hexagonal honeycomb pattern. Below is a professional description in English:

Aramid Honeycomb Core

Definition:
An ultra-lightweight, high-strength cellular structure made from aramid fiber paper (e.g., Nomex® or similar polyamide), impregnated with phenolic or other heat-resistant resins, and expanded into a hexagonal honeycomb configuration.

Key Features:
1. Material Composition:
Base Material: Aramid fiber (e.g., para-aramid like Kevlar® or meta-aramid like Nomex®).
Resin Matrix: Thermosetting resins (phenolic, polyimide, or epoxy) for rigidity and thermal stability.

2. Structure:
Hexagonal cell geometry (5–20 mm cell size, density 24–144 kg/m³).
Anisotropic properties: High strength-to-weight ratio in the axial (out-of-plane) direction.

3. Properties:
Mechanical: Exceptional compression/tensile strength, shear resistance, and energy absorption.
Thermal: Operating range from -200°C to +180°C (phenolic resin); flame-retardant and self-extinguishing.
Chemical: Resistant to solvents, fuels, and moisture.
Dielectric: Low electrical conductivity, ideal for radomes and EMI shielding.

4. Manufacturing Process:
Lamination: Aramid paper sheets are adhesive-coated and stacked.
Expansion: Stacked sheets are heated and stretched to form hexagonal cells.
Curing: Resin is cured under controlled conditions for final stabilization.
